Events are back! Impact is on, and scaling is happening...
Joining a hand-selected audience of impact-makers, value-adders and change agents (these are all real jobs in 2022, mum) on Friday afternoon, I was delighted to hear from 7 pioneers all making impact in their own way to make the world and society a better place - https://tedx.amsterdam/impact/
We heard from Klabu - who are building sports teams and communities in refugee camps around the world, Code Noir who are challenging racial equality and inclusion through food, Upp! Who has designed a machine for the plastic waste that ‘can’t’ get recycled, Iseekme - a mentoring platform for hard to reach communities, Blade Made - turning old wind turbine pieces into children’s playgrounds, Brigitt - an app that connects artists and NFTs, and Nicky Card - the app for teaching teens (and their parents) about finances!
The whole event was hands down, the best I’ve been too in 2 years (joking!), the only event I’ve been to in 2 years, but featured everything you’d need - from surprise impact messaging in your drink, to mentors, coaches, support teams, a borrel and of course the fantastic TED format.
After 2 years of no real life networking, my skills needed a little brush up, but I challenged myself to meet 3 new people, and succeeded in talking to well over that!
And the best bit about this event?
The fact that everyone was working on a project to do better for people and planet, and willing to leverage each other's expertise to accelerate and offer support for the projects.
I met so many people I know I can offer my marketing, comms & strategy services to help grow their business and impact, and am excited that Amsterdam is becoming a centre in Europe for developing these kinds of initiatives.
Well done to all the TED speakers, and the Ted x Amsterdam team - what an amazing achievement.
